I have added an article about the St. George Pulp and Paper Company. This was an article from a NB newspaper, dated March 7, 1949. I do not know the exact paper because the article was found in a scrapbook. I also included at the bottom of the article: Reminiscences of a former employee of the St. George Pulp and Paper Company. Albert Howard, St. George New Brunswick, now resident of Caledonia Ontario, July 2002 Thank you, Mr. Howard! If there are anymore former employees of this company out there and they would like their recollections added, please e-mail me. I have also added the website link to the St. George Hydro Power Plant Re-Development site maintained by Irving Ltd at the bottom of this article. Lots of before and after pictures, very interesting. You can find this article on line 11 on the main 'Historical Notes' page. http://www.rootsweb.com/~nbpstgeo/stge5mill.htm Charlene Beney--co-ordinator for St. George, NB Parish Pages http://www.rootsweb.com/~nbpstgeo/
Angela, You should try Charlene Beney's St. George Parish Rootsweb page. She has a map on there that shows the "Great Road to Saint John" which probably is what the reference is about. http://www.rootsweb.com/~nbpstgeo/ You will find the map on her "St. George Historical Notes" page, third item down. She has lots of great info on St. George and area on her site. I found a reference to Thomas Phillips living on "great road" as a famer in St. George in 1867-68, according to the Hutchison's directory. Would anyone be able to give me a hint to where this would be? Any help is greatly appreciated. Angela Justason ~Searching the Phillips Family, Charlotte County, New Brunswick~
