I'd be happy to help you but what lines are you looking for? Are you looking for help with the Nichols Line? If so I can't help you any more than take you to Aunt Amity (MORSE) NICHOLS. I remember my folks talking about Amity but I don't ever remember seeing her yet her suster Aunt Bessie I can remember!!. I have studied the Morse line extensively. You have also if you knew about our connection to the Grand Manan Johnston Family. So which family do you need help with: Morse,Gray,Sprague, Johnston, Smith or Quigley. I need help trying to figure out the fate of my Great-great grandfather . Benjamin H. Morse and his wife Harriett Johnston. Harriett must have died before 1860 and Benj. H. married for his second time and had 2 children Ida and Roberta. Ida's death certificate says her mother was Filiene Archer. It looks as if Benjamin H. married a third time to a Jan Carpenter of Eastport and a son William. Benjamin H. bought land from Jan's parents and put a house on it, then mortgaged it BUT Benjamin failed to make payment and lost the house and land. That is the last I heard of Benjamin and the year was 1860. I prefer to communicate using normal email and my address is stevensj@gwi.net regards, john Stevens

    1. [CAN-NB-CHARLOTTE] Question RE: 1920 Maine Census CD by Ancestry.com
    2. Heather Waddingham
    3. HI! This morning I got information from Ancestry.com regarding the sale of the 1920 US Census covering VT, NH and Maine. There appears to be two versions of this. One is $10.99, the other 39.99. Can someone tell me the reason for the large price difference?? If the only difference the fact the more expensive provides a link to there "one line" census records?? Or it the reason because the deluxe version has a instant index search?? The information I received was as follows: The 10.99 standard version stated: Available only through Ancestry.com, this instantly-searchable disc details more than 580,000 heads of household enumerated in the Fourteenth Census in the states of Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine. Original 1920 census records were scanned and indexed from the National Archives and Records Administration microfilm. Additional questions asked included: address; name of each person living with the family; relationship to head of the family; sex; color or race; age; marital status; year of immigration to United States; and many more. Link on this page http://shops.ancestry.com/product.asp?productid=2847 The deluxe version stated: Available only through Ancestry.com, this instantly-searchable disc details more than 580,000 heads of household enumerated in the Fourteenth Census in the states of Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine. Does anyone have this CD?? Can someone tell me if it states on it if people were from "Canada"... in particular NB?? I am interested in finding out if possibly a number of families who once lived on Campobello NB can be found living in Maine as a number of families moved back and forth over the border. 1. [CAN-NB-CHARLOTTE] McLaughlin family
    2. mhenderson
    3. I am writing this letter for a lady who is not on the internet. She has a very large amount of data on the Thomas McLaughlin family that moved from NH to the St.David Parish of Charlotte County in the late 1700s. She has a few questions arising from her research that she hopes someone may be able to answer. 1. The McLaughlin family married into a Scott family early on, but she would like to know where the Scott family originally came from? She also has an Adkins Scott born in Baillie in 1862 for whom she has no information. Who were his ancestors or possible descendants? 2. A John Morrison m. an Etta Roach in 1890. Were there any descendants? 3. Betty Hannan (daughter of Alex Hannan) married a Ralph Smith. Who was he? 4. Dorothy McLaughlin married a Virgil Smith. Who was he? If you have any information for Mrs. Emily (McLaughlin) Haley, please E-mail me at mhenderson5@attbi.com and I will give you Emily's snail mail address. She is very willing to share her genealogical data with anyone interested. Marilyn Henderson

The transcript follows. He was native to County Armagh, was married and had six sons and a daughter. Three of the sons were Henry, jacob, and Isaac. He served in the "disturbances in 1805 and 6." The daughter was Annabella who married William Johnson. The questions are: What was Henry's wife's name? Who were the three other sons? Who are any other descendants? What were the "Disturbances in 1805 and 6?" What other information is there about Henry Simpson and famliy? Here is the petition: 1821 To his Excellency Major George Stracey Smyth, Lieutenant Governor and Commander in Chie if the Province of New Brunswick, etc., etc., etc. The Memorial of Henry Simpson humbly shewith…That your Memorialist is a Native of the County of Armagh in Ireland, and did permanent Duty as a volunteer nearly two years during the Disturbances in 1805 and 6. He came to this Country in 1817 with a direction or order from Earl Bathurst to Sir J. C. Sherbrook, Governor of Lower Canada, to furnish him with two hundred Acres of Land, but the Ship in which He with other Emigrants had taken their passage, either through Stress of Weather, or Design of the Master, came to Saint Andrews. That your Memorialist being a stranger to the moods of applying for Land, and being informed there was a Tract of Crown Land reserved on the Fredericton Road commencing near the head of Waweig River, He in 820 built a comfortable House, cleared about three acres of Land and removed to it. Your Memorialist is thirty eight years old, married and has six Sons and a Daughter. He never has received any Land from Government. He has the means and it is His Intention should his Application be complied with, to continue improving according to the Royal Instructions, and He has not agreed for the Sale or Transfer of this Land to any person or persons whatsoever. Your Memorialist being informed that there is a prospect of those reserves being laid open for Settlement, and that a number of person are now applying, most humbly prays that your Excellency will be pleased to pardon his unintentional Trespass, and grant Him hundred Acres of Land on the road abovementioned leading from Saint Andrews to Fredericton, commencing at the 15 mile ----, being on the South Eastern side of the road, and extending North Easterly along the same, with such Front as to your Excellency may seem fit. Your Memorialist is aware that the Situation applied for by Nicholas Johnston and other will either take in his Improvements, or come very near then, but trusts your Excellency will be pleased to direct that should their location reach to his Clearing, the same may not be taken from him~ The whole is in a Wilderness State except the three Acres beforementioned~ And your Memorialist as in Duty bound will ever pray~ Saint Andrews, 14th March, 1821 Henry Simpson Should the Land asked for by Nicholas Johnson and others be laid out in two tiers of lots, as expressed in their Memorial, there will be sufficient Front for them without interfering with Simpson. C. Campbello Depy. Surv. Personally appeared before me Donald McLachlan Esquire one of his Majesty’s Justices of the Peace for the County of Charlotte, the above Henry Simpson, and made Oath to the Truth of the facts stated in his Memorial, on this day and year above written. Don. McLachlan, J. P. The situation herein described is part of the Great Reserve from the Crown and does not interfere with any application. ----- ------- Surveyor 1821. March 20
