I'm asking all current list members to create a post that reflects your current research. It should include the following information. Please include the first 4 bullets below in your SUBJECT Line * SURNAME (all in UPPERCASE letters) * County in New Brunswick * Town where they started. * Date when they arrived in New Brunswick * Brief history of the family and your research. Then do this for Other surnames you are researching. Please, DO NOT lump more than 1 surname per post please. Make sure you sign with an email address that you WILL NOT BE CHANGING.ie. yahoo, aol, gmail, hotmail, etc. It is recommended that you NOT USE an email address provided by your ISP (shaw.ca; rogers.com; sympatico.ca, verizon.net etc.,) as that might change down the road, whereas a yahoo or gmail, aol or hotmail address WILL NOT change. I will post my Roll Call in the next message so that you can see a sample of what yours should look like. Good luck to all researchers. Marilyn Strout, List Admin
Good Afternoon Listers, This afternoon I receive a message from Ancestry (the parent organization of Roots Web). *Ancestry is **discontinuing the mailing lists effective 2nd March 2020.*Mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb. As an alternative to RootsWeb Mailing Lists, Ancestry message boards are a great option to network with others in the genealogy community. Message boards are available for free with an Ancestry registered account. Thank you for being part of the RootsWeb family and contributing to this community.Sincerely, The RootsWeb team The message boards for NB & each county can be found at this link.... https://www.ancestry.com/boards/localities.northam.canada.newbrunswick/mb.ashx There is no need to respond to this post or continue a discussion on the topic.. . the list is discontinued. However, as List Admin I will be posting a couple more messages following this announcement. The first will be a roll call for subscribers. Please read the next message and follow that request. Good morning folks, Well, it seems Ancestry/Rootsweb has migrated their lists to a new software program and problems abound! 1 - DONT panic if you don't see your message appear on the list. 2 - DONT panic if you receive a message saying Welcome to the list. This new system is a nightmare from my point of view. Someone who posted 3 days ago, popped up as not subscribed this morning, so their message "bounced". I've resubscribed them! So please bear with me and every other List Admin over the next few weeks as we learn the new system. The posting address is still the same! Marilyn Strout, NB List Admin ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Here's what they had to tell us List Admins As of today, the RootsWeb mailing lists are now available to use, meaning you can now send and receive email on RootsWeb email lists just like you used to in the past. In addition to making the site more secure, we’ve upgraded our backend system to provide an easier-to-use interface to manage your email list subscriptions. As of today, any email that is sent will go directly into a new archive. We are in the process of importing the old archives into the new archives and due to the massive amount of content, that process will take time. We will continue to update you on the progress when we can. Thank you for your patience as we continue to bring these features back online.
I am looking for class pictures of students attending the "Cove School" in St. Stephen. Specifically I would like to locate class pictures from 1905 to 1912. Several years ago one was published in the St. Croix Courier and it included my father Elmer Harry Wiley. Norma

Looking for help. I read that there are Troaks's buried on private land in Charlotte County. I am wondering if anyone know exactly were it is, and if there is any way to find out who is buried there.
Does anyone know of sources to check for my ancestors who were in St Andrews and Digdeguash in the 1800s and 1810s? I've checked all the usual: 1. Church Records 2. Land Records 3. Probate Records. 4. Daniel Johnson's Vital Statistics in New Brunswick Newspapers 5. Vital Records from the Eastport Sentinel by Kenneth Willey 6. The Charlotte County Marriage Register 7. Land petitions and grants 8. Cemetery inscriptions According to the Charlotte County Guide put out by the Provincial Archives of New Brunswick, tax lists don't start until 1822: http://archives.gnb.ca/Documents/CountyGuides/Charlotte_en-CA.pdf The same Charlotte County Guide mentions a set of records called Court of Equity Records: Original Jurisdiction (RS55). Has anyone ever consulted these records? I understand that they have not been microfilmed. Has anyone consulted the very early school records? Although they don't exist for the 1800s and 1810s, they would certainly refer to students born in the 1810s. Charlotte County Parish School Returns, 1823-1833 F6788 Charlotte County Parish School Returns, 1829-1849 F7643 Charlotte County Grammar School Returns, 1822-1868 F7647 So are there any other sources to be consulted for these early years? Are there tax records that have not been microfilmed. Is there anything else at the PANB that has not been microfilmed or put in the Charlotte County Genealogy Guide? William D Romanski Rhode Island
Were they from the Loyalists? Several books on the arriving Loyalist settlers. One is the Kings Loyal Americans, which lists a long list of names. If you cannot find that source, write me and I shall look it up for you. At the St. John Library, I also looked at a book called something like... Early Marriages in New Brunswick. It must be available somewhere else too. One year, snooping on vacation, I found a manuscript on the Whelpley family (Loyalists) at the Kingston NB Museum.. they copied about 30 pages for me. Don't give up!
