    3. Hi List Members; I've been trying to trace the movements of my Grandmother (Jane Rathburn Affleck). Family tradition has it that she came to Winnipeg by ox cart with a bible and a dictionery to teach school. What I know for a fact is she transfered membership from the Congregational Church at Middleville, Ontario to the First Presbyterian Church in Winnipeg in 1874. Than we find here back east in 1876 attending the First Class of the Ottawa Normal School. Than in the summer of 1878 She transfered membership from Middleville to the Congregational Church in Winnipeg. The first firm record we have of her being in Winnipeg is her Marriage to James Masson Feb 2 1880. I've searched the records in the basement of the Knox United Church but they were in disorder and I didn't have time to check for attendannce records which would prove her being there or not. The only thing I found was the Baptism of my Father in March of 1881. What I'd like to know what schools were opperating in Winnipeg in the 1870's. And is there any record of the teachers empoyed than. Thanking you for any help or direction you can give me. Thanking you in advance for any pointers. I remain yours truly Hugh
