In the book (The Selkirk Settlers of Red River & Their Descendents 1812 - 1997) there is a list of Meuron Settlers as of Aug 1818. They were given land on the west bank of the Seine River. Craftsmen, bred in Swiss towns and unable to adjust to the harsh climate and meagre food supplies, they were finally driven south to Missouri by the flood of 1826. They left a legacy to the settlement in the forty - odd period paintings by 16 year old artist Peter Rindisbacher." Hope this helps some.
