Hi Listers, I am new to the list - live in Queensland Australia and am seeking help with two twigs on the family tree. My husband's maternal great grandparents emigrated to Australia from Aberdeen Scotland in 1886. GGrandmother FINDLAY was the eldest of 7 children to David GRAY and Christian BOOTH. Her sister Mary GRAY (born 1871) married William MINTY in 1896 in Scotland, and they emigrated to Canada sometime afterwards, settling in Winnipeg. Brother Robert GRAY (born 1878) also emigrated to Canada. I had not bothered to research these people up until now, but having looked at the wonderful Archives of Canada site where the attestation papers for members of the C.E.F. WW1 are listed, I have found where Robert GRAY enlisted at Winnipeg 9 Nov 1915 into the 179th Batt'n C.E.F. (Cameron Highlanders of Canada) and William MINTY enlisted in Toronto 29 January 1916 into the 134th Overseas Battalion C.E.F. (48th Highlanders). I have a date of death for Mary MINTY (21 April 1930), but am unsure of where she died. Also unsure if William and Robert returned safe from WW1. Any help/suggestions welcome as to how to find out more about these people. Better still, contact with family members would be wonderful. Regards Bev
