    1. [MBWINNIPEG-L] MORRIS RICHARDSON KING EVANS Winnipeg 1919-21
    2. Brett Payne
    3. I've rejoined this list after having made some good progress in the research of my grandfather's time spent in Winnipeg in 1914, and from 1919 to 1921. Having received some wonderful assistance here last year, I wonder whether I might ask for some more help, please? Harold Stewart MORRIS married Laura RICHARDSON at 3 p.m. on Saturday afternoon 4 October 1919. My grandfather Leslie PAYNE (1892-1975) and one Florence KING were best man and bridesmaid respectively, and the bride was given away by her uncle Mr. T.B. EVANS. After the ceremony - according to the Winnipeg Free Press, kindly extracted by Lynn Anderson - the bridal party returned to the home of Mrs. T.B. Evans, aunt of the bride, where they were photographed: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~brett/payne/cllpayne_1l.htm Stewart MORRIS and my grandfather probably knew each other due to the fact that they worked together at Eaton's Department Store. It is also possible that they had fought together - in the Canadian Machine Gun Corps - in France & Belgium during the First World War. Laura and Stewart MORRIS subsequently sent photos of themselves at their house at 261 Polson Avenue, Winnipeg, to my grandfather after he had returned to Derbyshire, England in 1921. I would be interested in any information about the families of these people in Winnipeg, please, and am particularly keen to track down any descendants. I know, for example, that Stewart & Laura MORRIS were living at 261 Polson Avenue in 1921, but how long did they stay in Winnipeg? If someone with access to Directories of the period would have the time to check subsequent years, I would be very grateful. Who was Florence KING? Was she related to the bride, perhaps? Did she marry and have children in Winnipeg? Thank you very much. --- Regards and best wishes, Brett Payne Tauranga, New Zealand researching the history of the 6th Brigade Canadian Machine Gun Company http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~brett/cmgc/cmgc.html
