Hello Hugh in Chicago, The current newspaper in Pilot Mound is The Sentinal Courier which can be found at The Manitoba Legislative Library. In 1881 it was The Pilot Mound Signal. The MLL has a web page on the internet and you can also find them on the Manitoba GenWeb board. You could email them.
