Hello, I am new to the list....from New Brunswick and researching my husband's surname PURDUE. ( from the London area of England) His ancestors were: James PURDUE b 1788-89 County of Surrey, ENG( butcher) (Baptized April 1 1821 at St Mary Newington, Surrey, England.) and Mary CHISNELLb 1789? or1792-93 County of Surrey, ENG married SEPT 1816..... They had several children... (at least 9 known....) one being: Thomas PURDUE.... b 1826-27 Newington, Surrey, ENG married in 1849 to : Mary Ann THORPE b 1827-28 Newington, Surrey, ENG They also had several children... at least 8 known. ..one child Harold...died as a child in Eng. another: Our ancestor**Joseph Francis b Sept 16 1862. m Louisa Sare 1887 Came to NB Canada 1912.( General dealer ( ironmonger) Joe PURDUE came to Canada quite late. We have been told that other family members came to Canada earlier than he did. I am hoping that someone will recognize, or be researching this surname PURDUE and write to me. I have all the children names and dates and places of birth...from the above mentioned marriages....and am willing to share. Births in these families have been spelled correctly as PURDUE, but also as PERDUE.
