Researching my GGGrandparents, WILLIAM COOK, b 1796, Ireland, d abt 1894, Carman District, Manitoba, and MISS SHEPARD, b abt 1806, Ireland, d abt 1890, Carman District. According to an article which appeared in the Winnipeg Free Press, dated Friday, January 27, abt 1885, wherein the couple were celebrating their 63rd wedding anniversary, their families came to Canada by way of New York and they were married at Mount Forest, Grey County, Ontario abt 1822. They moved to the Carman District, Manitoba, abt 1860 where they raised most of their 12 children. My GGGrandfather was their son GEORGE COOK, b 1847, Grey County, Ontario, d 1942, Sault Ste. Marie, MI. GEORGE COOK did not move to Manitoba with his parents but stayed on in Grey County where he married JANE BALL, b 1856, d 1934, moving to Michigan abt 1890.
