Hi Kay--- My Thompsons did come from the Tipperary area-- I think. At least my grandmother was said to come from there. This is my story: Great Great Grandfather Francis Thompson married Mary Perry. Mary was born in Scotland. I believe they came to Canada about 1846, soon after my grandmother was born to her mother Ann Thompson (Mrs. Robert Sparrow. ) Robert died in Ireland (no proof here at all) Francis b: abt 1781 d: 1871 age 90 Mary Perry b:abt 1788 d: 1873 I haven't pursued the three boys Frank, Henry, and James in Sullivan Twp. Gray Co. ON The girls were Mary b: 1820 d: Toronto 18 ? Ann b: 1824 d: 9 Jan 1904 born in Ireland ( my gr grandmother ) Susan b: 1825 d: 1901 This is rather sketchy but I have not concentrated on them. They may be next on my list. Any help would be appreciated. > Re: > Donna Coulter > Nanton AB. > > >Researching- BOYD-1855-1916 > >THOMPSON- Francis and Mary 1846-1900 > >CUMMINGS- John and Isabelle(Addison)1870-1900+ ON > >TEDFORD Francis (Frank) E 1870-1900+MB > > I have many ties to the same family of Irish Thompsons > [Tipperary] beginning with Joseph 1786 and Ann then > another Joseph and Ann >Montreal and Argenteuil County > QC>Winnipeg>Cavalier County North Dakota>Everett Washington I understand Francis was in Toronto before going to Grey Co. >... and the name Tedford appears as the husband of a > cousin in Washington. My Frank E. Tedford was rumored to have died in Wpg at the turn of the century but I cannot find any record. Another rumor about him was that he " ran out on my aunt " These two were married 1896 -were in Wpg -- but usie( not Susan Thompson) was back in ON for the 1901 census. Don't know what happened to him. Maybe he went to Washington --What was the time frame? He never did turn up that we know of. The plot thickens. Thanks for getting in touch. Hope we can help each other. Donna Coulter Box 1232 Nanton AB.
