My first posting to the list...hello all, from Australia. My husband's great grandparents thought to be Thomas BULLEY and Elizabeth nee? (love to know her maiden name) emigrated to Canada with 8? chn and settled in Portage La Prairie ...ca1880's 1890's. Thomas BULLEY in the 1881 UK Census is listed as a Estate Agents Clerk aged 46 years and is listed with wife Elizabth aged 36 years Sarah aged 6 Emily aged 5 Thomas E aged 4 Minnie...aged 2 , my husband's grandmother May aged 6m Only the chn Thomas Edward (referred to as Edward) & Minnie figure as names in living family's in Seattle's recollections, the other girls names remembered by them are:- Ada, Lena, Esther and Bessie (Eliz?) BULLEY, & none of those are listed in the 1881 Census, so it's a bit of a puzzle to say the least! Love to find records of:- 1. exactly WHO was in this BULLEY family upon arrival in Manitoba. Any clues? 2. Deaths for mother & father Thos & Eliz. BULLEY. No deaths found in BC. Presume they stayed around the Winnipeg area? 3. Marriages for chn. who mainly seemed to settle in Vancouver etc later. Minnie BULLEY indeed had a first marriage to an Alza BURDETTE in 1912 in Victoria BC. Then m Robert JACKSON in Seattle & moved to Australia. Ada BULLEY m a John BARNER in Portage La Prairie or thereabouts, Chn:- Cecil & Grace...moved to a homestead at Turtleford???? Sask. finally settling in Victoria BC. Can't find Ada's death there though. Lena BULLEY m a BRUTY? (not much chop from BULLEY to BRUTY!) Thos Edward BULLEY m Annie? had son Edward Bessie BULLEY m UNKNOWN...son Wilfred (although I'm a bit sus that this child might have been from Minnie's Marriage to Mr BURDETTE in Vic. BC) 4. Descendants. Anything searchable on line? Addresses for obtaining info & certs.?
