He married Mary Hill and they had two sons, Thomas (born October 14, 1904) and Neil Ritchie. After WW1, John Ritchie left his family and emigrated to Canada and is believed to have settled in Wiinipeg, or somewhere in Manitoba; where he remarried and had another family.
