I was pleased to see a Winnipeg list get started as this is where my Canadian roots are from. Like most lists I've joined a checked the archives and discover only 14 messages. As this is a brand new list I decided that I should do my bit to help it get started. Although I now live in New Westminster I have access to the Winnipeg Free Press going back to the late 1800's at the local university (will check exact date next time I'm there and of course it was the Manitoba Free Press back then.) If any one wants something looked up and they don't have access to the old papers (and they know the date within a couple of weeks) I would be happy to look for them. As I am busy with my owe research and have also volunteered to work on the FreeBMD Project (transcribing the English Indexes) and on a census transcription project for Devon I do not get to the university all that often. So it may take a while before I get a chance to do lookups. But I will make a list of all inquiries and make every effort to get up there at least once every six weeks. Please do not feel shy about asking. I would not have offered if I wasn't willing to do it. I'll just make sure I look first before I get involved in the London Times for the 1850's and forget all about the rest of the world. Jacki Humphrey New Westminster, BC
