Born in the township of Lobo, Middlesex County, Ontario, 1866. Son of Robert and Jane (McCubbin) Ferguson. Married Isabelle I. O'Neil, 1897. Was educated at Winnipeg Collegiate, Manitoba University. Scotch ancestry; grandfather came to Canada from Glasgow, settled in Middlesex-pioneer farmer of that county. Dr. Ferguson came to Manitoba in 1883; homesteaded south-west of Melita; taught school; entered Manitoba University from which he graduated in 1897. Has always practised at Pilot Mound. Joined Canadian Militia, "B" Company, Manitoba Mounted Rifles, Major Officer Commanding of Company; went overseas independently in 1916; joined R.A.M.C., and was attached to Cambridge Hospital at Aldershot; returned to Canada in 1917, and resumed practice. Member of British, Canadian and Manitoba Medical Associations. Ex-Member of the Council of Physicians and Surgeons of Manitoba. Mayor of Pilot Mound for ten years. Mrs. Ferguson for many years associated with Red Cross work, visited England and after her return travelled and was instrumental in raising much money for that Society. She was one of the first to be made a Life Member of the British Red Cross Society. Dr. Ferguson is in religion a Presbyterian. Liberal. Recreation: Curling and hunting. Address, Pilot Mound.
