Mr. Howden was educated at Rockwood, and St. Catherine. Comes of Irish stock; family came to Canada from Fermanagh, and settled in Halton county. Mr. Howden came West and was articled in law to N.F. Hagel, K.C., was called to the Manitoba Bar, 1887. Practised in Winnipeg for five years. Came to Neepawa, 1892. Mayor of Neepawa for eight years. Created a K.C., 1908. Elected to Manitoba Legislature, 1903-07-11-15. Appointed to the portfolio of Telephones; Provincial Secretary, Attorney-General. Member of the Masonic Fraternity. Orange Order. Methodist. Conservative. Address, Neepawa, Man. Howden: Gordon T. (Doc), Manager, Winnipeg Theatre, Winnipeg, Manitoba Amusement Co., Ltd. Born Montreal, Quebec, January 31, 1875. Son of James G., and Eleanor Jane Howden. Was educated at Public and High Schools, Montreal; Stanstead College; Bishop's College; Mount St. Louis College; McGill University. Came to Winnipeg, 1902; employ of the Canadian Pacific Railway. Was connected with Walker, Pantages, Dominion Theatres,, Winnipeg. Became Manager of the Winnipeg Theatre in 1917. Member of the Winnipeg Rotary Club, Carleton Club. Member A.F. & A.M., Master of Tuscan Lodge. Member, Scottish Rite, Royal Arch. Shriner. Member, Order De Molay for Boys.
