Hello Gord, This train fire occurred on December 18, 1918 and was front page headlines in The Manitoba Free Press. The story said the accident had happened only about twelve hours earlier than when the story appeared. The fire started by a woman using a spirit lamp in the restroom to heat baby food. The cord to signal the train to stop had burned so the fire quickly got out of control. Terrible story with two little girls, sisters I believe, that died. Too bad there isn't a Manitoba train site to post these stories. I didn't photocopy the story so cannot remember the names of those that died. Sorry for running on there but no this isn't the story you are looking for. I do remember a train accident story that happened east of Transcona near Winnipeg so if I can find that I'll let you know. I'll keep William Adams in mind.
