Hello John in San Diego, I too have a book from the local library called "Pioneers and Prominent People of Manitoba" published by Canadian Publicity Co. in 1925 and it has a listing for a Henry McGill and Robert McKay. "McGill: Henry, Farmer. Born at Tilsonburg, Ont., October 31, 1854. Son of Joseph and Catherine (Hill) McGill. Scotch-Irish descent; family came to Canada 1829, settled at Huntington, Chateauguay county, Quebec; Mr. McGill's grandfather fought in the uprising of 1837 against Papineau and Nelson in Quebec; afterwards moved to Woodstock, Ont. (1837); one of the earliest pioneers in the district; family again moved to Paisley in Bruce county. Mr. H. McGill came West in 1877; worked on Canadian Pacific Railway construction; homesteaded in 1880 in Florenta township; still lives on the old homestead. Served three terms on the council of rural municipality of Lansdown, Mr. McGill's great uncle founded McGill University in 1819. The family has given to Canada pioneers in three provinces. Mr. McGill today owns a large tract of farm land and is one of the successful farmers of his district. Has been an Orangeman for 43 years. Address, Plumas, Man."
