I'm not too surprised to find HBC records in England. Didn't the HBC get their charter from the King of England? They got vast holdings in "Ruperts Land" and the right to trade furs with the Indians and Courier du Bouis (sic) if I correctly remember my gradeschool Canadian history. Murray
