I have an old photo taken at Nicholls & Parkin, the "Popular Photography Parlors" at 434 Main Street, Winnipeg, identified as Rose BRACKEN. Photo is perhaps from the 1880s. Searching for info on my ggrandfather, Robert Franklin BRACKEN, b. in Canada (I can only assume Winnipeg due to the photo of family member Rose being taken there) on July 13, 1865. Robert migrated to Middlesboro, Kentucky -- the Cumberland Gap -- married there in 1891, and settled in Ashland, Kentucky. Searching for identity of Rose BRACKEN in the photo -- is she Robert's mom or sister perhaps? Searching for Robert's parents' names in Winnipeg. I'm an extreme novice at research in Canada -- are there census reports for Canada for the late 1800s, as in the U.S.? BRACKEN name has been very elusive for me. Any assistance would be greatly helpful. Has anyone with Winnipeg connections heard of this name? Is it German? Thanks for the opportunity to post! Mary
