    3. Thanks to all who have recommended sites. My main interest is in the Swiss who settled in the Selkirk Colony at the Red River Settlement in 1821 and the soldiers (de Meuron and de Watteville regiments) who came in 1817 to protect the settlers. They all left the Colony after the flood in June 1826 for the American Midwest, Upper Canada, and Montreal. I am interested in reading about the people they interacted with while they were there. Since many families wintered in Pembina, they traded with the Metis and hunters for provisions. I would like to know as much as I can about life and conditions there between 1821-1826. Any stories passed along by families about the Swiss while they were in the Colony would be appreciated. A list of the names of the Swiss and de Meurons is included under "Selkirk Project" on my website at: http://www.feefhs.org/ch/tsc/frg-tsc.html Sincerely, Maralyn A.
