"The Chesley; Ont., Enterprise gives the following account fo the death of the late James. B. Clark, father of Messrs. D. J. and William Clark, of this city: The familiar figure of the late James Ban Clark will be missed in the community. He was born in Ayrshire, Scotland, but for a quarter of a century was a resident of this village. Everybody in Chesley and the surrounding country knew J. B. Clark, and he was of a deeply sympathic nature, and had a kind word to say to everyone, his many friends (he had on enemies) will learn with regret that he succumbed to an attack of pneumonia on Wednesday morning, 16th. inst.. Ten days ago he was in good health, but the severe cold settled on his lungs, and though he had a very strong consitiution for a man who had been seventy winter, all that medical skill could do was unavailing and the grim reaper claimed him as one of its first victims of the new century in this locality. Mr. Clark was in business here for over twenty years and he! was held in the highest esteem by all who had business relations with him. Deceased was a staunch member of the Presbyterian church. He leaves, in addition to his widow, a family of two sons and four daughters to lamenent his removal. His sons are D. J. and Wm., who carry on a large undertaking business in Winnipeg, Man.. The former arrived home on Monday evening. The daughters are Mrs. J. H. Mordue, of Branford, Mrs. W. J. Johnstone, of Owen Sound; Lizzie and Maggie at home" For information only.
