"Suddenly on Wednesday, May 4, 1977 at the St. Boniface Hospital, after a brief Illness, Mr. John Maksymetz, aged 75 years, beloved husband of Mrs. Anne Maksymetz, of 489 Sydney Ave.. Prayers will be said 8:00 p.m. Friday, May 6 at the Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. and Luxton Ave.. Divine liturgy will be lung 10:00 a.m. Saturday, May 7 at the Holy Ecuharist Ukrainian Catholic Church, Munroe and Watt Street, with Msgr. S. Semchuk officiating. Interment to follow in the All Saints Cemetery. Mr. Maksymetz was born in the Western Ukraine on May 2, 1902 and came to Canada in 1914 where he settled and farmed in the Gilbert Plains ares. He worked for the C.N.R. for 10 years prior to moving to Winnipeg in 1965, and was then employed with Wilson Auto until his retirement in 1972. Besides his loving wife, he leaves to mourn his sons, Morris, Fred, Steve and Lawrence of Winnipeg, Sylvester of The Pas and Anthony of Oakbank; his daughters, Mrs. Rose Peters of Seattle, Mrs. Mary Holowaty of Beausejour, Mrs. Clariece Masklew, Mrs. Helen Zelisny, Mrs. Carol Harysymchuk, all of Winnipeg, 29 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, six brothers, Steve, Alex and Bill of Regina, Nick of Detroit, Mike of Ethelbert and Harry of Alberta; two sisters, Mrs. Eva Herman and Mary Strauski, both of Winnipeg. He was predeceased by one sister, Mrs. Pearl Slota in 1976. Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Glenn, Gordon and Brian Halowaty, Kerry and Thomas Maskiew and Donald Maksymetz.
