    3. Hi Maureen, In Sprague & Frye's "Genealogy of the First Metis Nation" Josephte's parents were John BELLE a European with no birthdate, and Anne ____ most probably an Indian country wife. It also shows a William BELLE, b: 1825, in the NWT, married to Marie MORRIS, b: 1830, in: NWT. William is the son of John and Anne. As for Edward and Michel, according to Gail MORIN'S "Manitoba Scrip", their parents were Louison, b: 1775, and Josephte Gros-Ventre, b: 1800, an Indian. GrosVentre was a name of a band of CROW Indians of that time. In my hometown of St. Lazare, Manitoba, there are several FLEURY'S and BELL'S still living there. St. Lazare is the site of Fort ELLICE, a onetime HBC trading post. Hope this helps, Larry:) Bellehumeur Webpage: http://www.cyberus.ca/~quinto http://genweb.net/~pbg/lists.htm http://www.mandsgroups.com/metis/ribbon.html "Oh my Metis Nation! Take courage!
