Dear Hugh: I saw your message on the Winnipeg list...thank you for taking the trouble to write! After reading your message, I thought I'd better go into my files and double check everything. Some notes I had from Toronto had listed the property as 35-1-18, around 1880. I have a copy of the original Homestead Patent filed in Brandon 1883. It lists my Gt-Grandfather Robert Bennett Fawcett of Sourisburg, and his property NW quarter of Sec 35, Tp 7, Range 17. So you are correct...a typo was involved in those original notes! Further, when I applied for this document, the Manitoba archives did a search and told me at the time (1996) that 35-1-18 did NOT belong to my ancestor. So, apologies are in order, and a note to me to be more careful in my postings! I thank you for your diligence and for taking the trouble to post me!
