put out by the Wnpg Free Press about 1973 contains invaluable photos with names of people, places and things. I have a copy and using it for reference and know where I can get another if someone wants it. Most lib will have one in their refer section. Regarding schools/churches of the early yrs for Barb: All Saints Anglican church 1885-1926 was on ne corner Broadway Osborneknwon as Garrison Church; St Johns Anglican in 1862 demolished 1926;St James anglican, oldes tin Wnpg. built 1852 on HBC grant near St James St.; the ist school was 1871 long gone was a store;Ft Roug eSchool gone in 1953;St Johns College 1905 anglican, founded 1850 now part of U of M;there is no mention of missionary school but..Knowles School for boys 1907;the Middlechurch Home of Wnpg 1883 started for home for unwedmothers, on Lydia St. the Union? purchased the prop where an Indian residential school had been destroyed by fire. , school move dinto other bldg same place, now an oldsters home.Remember, this ends in 1973!There is also a book, Manitoba Milestones, McWilliams, 971.27 which I haven't got with me but it gave a lot of details regarding what was around in the early days, mostly Wnpg since not much else was there. Someday, when I have nothing else to do, I'll try to index the above.... also have other refer. books, most of which are also in the lib and been great help to my family searches but glad to look for names, places etc for others as requested as time allows.
