Good afternoon to everyone... Since my last posting, I have discovered more information on the Hancock family I am seeking. As I indicated previously, my great-grandfather Charles Thomas Hancock was born January 8, 1864, I believe in Heandon Punchardon, near Barnstaple, Devon England. I believe I have located his parents and siblings but am awaiting Charles' birth certificate to confirm this. Charles, his parents William and Emma, and his brothers George b. 1850 and William b. 1855 emigrated to Canada via Ontario in 1871. Sometime prior to 1874, they moved to Manitoba and lived in the RM of Rockwood/Woodlands. My great-grandfather married Ellen Sophia Clifford in 1889; they had a son Allan C. Hancock in approx. 1904-1905. Allan died August 19, 1942 at the Battle of Dieppe, France during WWII. Allan was married to Betty Florence Enns and they lived in Stonewall; they had one son Allan Clifford "Wayne" Hancock on August 21, 1941; Wayne is my father. Charles Hancock died at the age of 40 in 1904 - he is buried in Victoria Presbyterian Cemetery at Balmoral. I just located Ellen Hancock's obituary notice today (she died at the ripe old age of 96 in 1965 in Stonewall); I was stunned to discovered that she and Charles had another son, John or "Jack" Hancock. John was still alive in 1965 as he was mentioned in his mother's obituary...the notice also mentioned seven grandchildren! My father would have been one of the grandchildren but that leaves six others - the obit also mentioned that Jack Hancock lived in Winnipeg, as I do! I was thrilled to find this info out as my search has concentrated mainly in the past - my father was an only child and I believed his father was also an only child. I am hoping to hear from anyone with information on the Hancock family in Winnipeg...have a good day and your assistance is greatly appreciated! Regards, Shannon (Hancock) Loechner in Winnipeg
