He was employed by Coldstream Products of Canada for the past ten years, surving as shop steward and a past president of C.A.I.M.A.W., Local No. 1.. Previously, he had spent a number of years at Canada Packers and on his won as Lenton Repair Works, followed by two years in West Point, Nabraska as a plant engineer for Armour and Co.. He will be deeply missed by his wife, Betty; son Gerald and daughter - in - law Barbera of Toronto; daughter, Sharon and son - in - law Richard of Winnipeg, and three daughters, Ronda, Rowena and Jacquie, all at home; also his sister, Marjorie of Winnipeg and brother, Norman of Victoria, B.C.. Funeral service will be held at the Thomson Funeral Chapels, Broadway at Furby, at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, May 7. Interment in St. Vital Cemetery. The Rev. R. J. Gaiston will officiate. Pallbearers will be his friends and co - workers from Coldstream Products. Friends may call at the chapels on Friday form 6:30 to 8:30 p.m..     3. David Allan Guelph, Ont, Canada was the eldest son of the late William Allan and was born in Leith Walk, Edinburgh, Scotland jan 11, 1808. They moved to Sweden in 1821 where both William and his family built and supervied mills for the great milling firm of Dixon, Dugeon & Co, in both London, England and Gottenburg, Sweden. David Allan was a millwright and miller along with his father and was in charge of the milling foundry at Trolatta. His knowledge of the Swedish language he retained through his life. Mr. David Allan Sr. returned to Scotland and emigrated to Canada in 1831 and purchased the water and grist mill at the G.T.R. bridge and laid the foundation of what was the largest industry in Guelph, Ont. Canada. William sr., David and John were all in the businesss and built dams at Stratford and Goderich, Ont. They also built the Court House, and in 1857 David Allan supervised the building of St. Andrews Church. Additions were added to their milling industry with ! a carding mill and large distillery for the sole purpose of wheat on the Guelph market. In 1859 David Allan died leaving his property to David Jr. In 1877 David Jr took a stroke and withdrew from the business. He was an Elder at the St. Andrew Church in Guelph, Ont. Canada. He married Christine Idington daughter of John Idington. a Berwickshire family. Children were William, and Mrs Lt-Col N. Higginbotham. The late David Allan d. in 1895 and his wife in 1902 === David Allan of Pilkington, Ont was born in Berwickshire, Scotland Feb. 17th, 1813 and came to Canada in 1833, worked in Toronto until 1845 and moved to Puslinch Township and to Pilkington Township where he purchased a 100 acre farm on lot 5 con 2 and continued to make flour barrels for Elora and Salem flour mills. He married Agnes McQueen who was born in Lockport, N.Y. USA. He died at the age of 87 on jan 16, 1901. Children were Agnes, marr to John Howlett in East Luther Township, Susannah Jane Jeffrey in southern Mnitoba, Canada, Ellen married Samuel Auger Bay City, Mich, Mary marr J.D. Larkin in West Garafraxa, James marr. Maggie Hamilton , Alberta, Margaret marr John Duckworth in West Garafraxa, John marr Agnes Halls, East Luther Township,Jane marr William Grose, Peel Twp, Margaret Gibbon set in Stratford, Ont, Elizabeth marr Thomas Halls and set in west luther, Robert m Rachael connelly and settled in Garafraxa John Allan lived on lot 5 Con 2 and carried on with mixed farming and was the trustee of the church in Alma, Ont for 12 yrs. He married Alice Hall; Children were Alice who marr William French, Pilkington, and John === Charles Allan was born in Perthshire Scotland and died in 1859 at age 69 coming to Canada in 1835 and set in Nichol, near Fergus, Ont. then moving to Elora, Ont. He represented North Wellington in the Dominion House of Commons and died on his way to Parliament of heart failure in 1859 Charles Allan son of the above Charles Allan born in Perthshire, Scotland came to Canada with his father at the age of 7, and owned a 100 acre farm at lots 6 and 7 con 13 Nichol Twp, Ont. at Pilkington.. He was on the board at Knox Presbyterian Church at Elora, Ont. He married Jane Hawkins, , Children William marr Margaret Duff, David, Jemima, Martin, Salt Lake City, Utah {a druggist], Grace, James, Susanna, Arthur and Mary David Allan lived on the homestead and was tax collector for Nichol Township, and an Elder of Knoz Church, Elora, and was Lieutenant -Col of the 30th regiment in 1905. David Allan Jr purchased the homestead from his brother James marr Ellen Lille of Nichol, Children David, Edith, Ann, Lewis Ruby, David marr Amy Martin set in Toronto, Children Alfred === John F. Allan b. in CO. SLIGO, IRELAND in 1827 came to Canada in 1827 and settled first in Toronto, Ont.Fourteen days after his arrival he died, and the two sons cared for the mother until her death. In 1850 John F. Allan moved to Arthur Twp and settled on lot 12 conc 11, which was purchased from the crown at $2.50 cents per acre. Kenilworth was the nearest post office at the time and they brought all their food from Fergus, Ont..by Oxen. He was a member of the Anglican Church at Farewell, Ont. In 1854 he married Ellen Morrison who died in 1904 at the age of 71, children William and Robert, Manitoba, Canada, George, Arthur Twp, Farewell, Ont, John on the homestead, and Alfred Joseph owned lot 12, con 10 of Arthur Twp. "Mr. George E. Carpenter, at Central Park Lodge, 70 Poseldon Bay, on May 2, 1977, aged 97 years. Born in Stratford, Ont. in 1879, Mr. Carpenter came to Winnipeg in 1902 as traffic Officer for the Canadian Pacific Railway. In 1916 he joined the Canadian Manufactures Association for which he organized the prairie division, acting as manager for thirty - three years, until his retirement in 1949. He also represented the employers group of the Workman's Compensation Board. He was made a life member of the Sturgeon Creek Masonic Lodge in 1970. He is survived by his daughters, Mrs. Dorothy Inch of Ventura, Calif., Mrs. Jean Hartley of Calgary, Alta., Mrs. Grace Kearins of Largo, Fla., Mrs. Beth Penney of Toronto, Ont., and Mrs. Anne Dojoak of Ottawa, Ont.. Also surviving are eighteen grandchildren, many great - grandchildren and two great - great - grandchildren. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 5, 1977 at 2:15 p.m. at the Leatherdale Gardiner Funeral Chapel, 232 Kennedy St., followed by burial in Chapel Lawn Cemetery, the Rev. James C. Woods officiating. Honorary pallbearers will be Messrs; Arthur Inch, K. L. M. Hartley, Norman Penney, Carles Dojack and Harry D. Young. Active pallbearers will be Messers, David Holman, Clark Cowell, Ron Dojack, John Dojack, Frank Dojack and Mr. Justice J. E. Wilson. Leatherdale Gardiner Funeral Chapel in care of arrangements.
