    1. [MBWINNIPEG-L] Albert GIBSON born 1892
    2. Annette Fulford
    3. I am searching for information on Albert Gibson, the son of Stewart GIBSON and Amalia LANG. He was known as Albert Gibson, but his full name maybe George Albert Gibson. In the 1901 Census - Scotland, it shows he was born in 1892 in Stuttgard, Germany. This family is of Irish descent, but they lived in the Glasgow area, Scotland. He came to Regina, Saskatchewan with his parent's in 1907, but was living in Winnipeg, Manitoba by 1934. There is a George Albert Gibson in the CEF database at the National Archives of Canada (Regimental # 153676). It says that he was born in Dumbarton, Scotland, which is where the family lived in Scotland. This could be the same person. His wife's name is listed as Elizabeth. If anyone has additional information on Albert, I would love to hear from you. Annette

    1. [MBWINNIPEG-L] Family Story
    2. desni
    3. Hello Listers, I have a family story that I hope to be able to verify with your help. Now the story goes like this. - My husband's uncle Geert van Boxel departed from Holland 14th March 1926 on the ship "The Montclair" arriving at Saint John New Brunswick. From there he went to a Clergy Family in Winnipeg but soon became homesick so he jumped onto a goods train for the return journey to make his way home to Holland. Apparently the goods train was carrying explosives and blew up on route, his body was never found. Would there be any papers published that might have reported this story of the explosion? Or any other way that I might find out the truth? Hoping that someone will be able to give me some idea of where to go next. I tried googling it and also the Canada Train Disaster site with no luck. TIA Regards Desni from Sunny Queensland Australia

    2. Bess Gillett
    3. Hi, I'm looking for Gillott/Gillett relatives in Winnipeg. May Gillott was born Nov. 19, 1894 in Winnipeg. Her parents were James Gillett, b. 1868 in Pouch Cove, Newfoundland, the surname was changed to Gillott; and Elizabeth Hamilton b.c. 1868 in Erin, Wellington County, Ontario. I believe May's parents were married in Toronto and travelled to Winnipeg to stay with relatives there. There is another James Gillott who died l0/l0/1893 in Winnipeg, and could this possibly be a relative. May's parents moved to Los Angeles shortly after her birth. Any help is appreciated.
