Surnames: Arzab, Artsob, Artzab Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/mNC.2ACE/2506 Message Board Post: Hi. My name is Haley Arzab and I am stumped as to where I can look for information on my family history. My great Grandfather came to Canada in 1914 and he went by the name of Moses Arzab. My grandfather Harry Arzab was born in Canada. When my Great grandmother Sarah, my Great Uncle David and my Great Aunt Shirley came over to Canada their last name was Artsob. Moses's father had the last name of Artzab. All the names are similar, but we don't know the exact name, since the names were translated from syrillic/Russian characters, and the people at immigration just wrote the name as to how it sounded. If you know of any information or where I could find some information that might be helpful could you let me know? Thanks. Haley Arzab haleyap3ab@yahoo.ca

If you find a person listed on the Vital Stats website, the cost of ordering the certificate is only $12.00. There is an order form on the website that is used to place the orders so that no search is necessary. -----Original Message----- From: gc-gateway@rootsweb.com [mailto:gc-gateway@rootsweb.com]On Behalf Of rosemaryparmley@shaw.ca Sent: August 17, 2003 7:43 AM To: CAN-MB-WINNIPEG-L@rootsweb.com Subject: [MBWINNIPEG-L] Re: Samuel and Pauline Joseph family This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Their may however be something in one of the papers that could give you more information befor you spend your money and find out it's the wrong person. I would suspect a Winnipeg paper, it sometimes has write ups from Rural areas or possibly a Portage la Prairie paper. I can check at the Library for you but not until September. They only have Winnipeg papers. The Manitoba Archives has Rural papers but because of the hours that I work I can't get their. Unless someone else can check for you. My mother and the other siblings were told they were born in Pembina but there are no records of birth for any of them. But they lived in Winnipeg for some years, showing up in the directory on different streets including Aubitson Avenue. During their time in Winnipeg, my grandfather used the name of Krantz...in the U.S. it was Koontz which was the actual name. Where would I be able to find out what hospitals were available then for a woman to give birth? They were strict Roman Catholics, what schools would have been available. They lived in the town area...my grandfather was a newspaper economic reporter. Thank you...Victoria
