    2. Michael Melen
    3. James: My name is Michael Melen. I live in Vancouver, BC. I am not really connected to your family, but I am sorta connected to Myles' wife Mary Matilda. She was the daughter of Peter Henderson and Eleanor(Ellen) Whitford. I have alot of info on the Whitford's and Henderson's. Peter Henderson was one of the first familys to leave St. Andrew's and move to Portage La Prairie. The first marriage to take place in St. Mary's Ang. Church in Portage is that of John Anderson and Christine Whitford. Anyways, let me know if you need or want some info. We understand that my grandparents - - GRACE DALY YOUNG [1879 - 1920] & BENJAMIN BLAKE HALLADAY [1876 - 1927] were divorced about 1915. Would divorces have been granted in Manitoba at that time & where could I obtain the records ? GRACE moved with her 3 children to Long Beach California & is found in the 1920 US census there, just prior to her death.Have wondered if the reason for the move was to obtain a divorce there. Am sure her parents would not have approved. Any help appreciated.

    1. [MBWINNIPEG-L] Alfred James Williams
    2. Ian S Parrish
    3. I am new to Canadian research and would like to find descendants of Alfred James WILLIAMS. AJ Williams (b. 1903 in Leominster, Herefordshire, ENG) was the son of George WILLIAMS and Clara Elizabeth (nee PARISH) and married to Alice (?). He died near Moncton NB on August 03, 1941 while flying a Hudson aircraft for the Atlantic Ferry Organization. AJ and Alice had a daughter Paulette. At the time of his death Alice and Paulette were living at 180 Ethelbert, Winnipeg. Nothing known about Alice or Paulette since 1941. Born in Leominster, Herefordshire, England, he came to Winnipeg at the age of 21. He was bandmaster of the Army and Navy Veterans' band here for about three years. Captain Williams studied at Stevenson field, obtaining both his private and commercial pilot licences in Winnipeg. In 1932 he moved to Toronto where he was a member of the Toronto Flying club. He left Toronto about two years ago to become an instructor at the Malton, Ont, training school, where he remained for about a year and a half. Can anyone help? Ian S Parrish <parrish@omcs.com.au>
