    3. Gord. You talked about the Franklin book. Are you from that area? The people I am looking for came from that area.. Ferguson and Jones but only Ferguson is talked about in the book and mostly before he married Jane Jones after that no more...No write ups about him but he is in others parts. Thanks Toni rraugust@mb.sympatico.ca

    3. Hi Larry it's Toni again...You were so kind to give me a list from the Metis Script. Can you tell me how I would get a copy of this should this be the path that I need to follow. My father and I went over what you gave me and it looks to match so far...No one will give us the name of Janes parent's (in the mail) but if it matches with the info then I think we have found the link that takes us far back in time to Catharines mother or great grandmother who was native we have a name and this women comes from the same area that Catharine came from so it adds the missing link... Again I thank you for your help. Toni Ooh I am headed out to Langenburg in a few, would you remember anyone from there. Ferguson, (lots) Duncan (spy hill) Hubner Baseley. oh you can't shake a stick without hitting one of us in those parts... most worked for the mine at one time or another. Let me know if I can help you with any of you searches.

    3. I'm looking for information on the following people: George Christie born 1849 in Oyne Scotland (Aberdeenshire) and his sister Dr. Christian Christie, also born in Oyne in 1859. Parents were Huntly Christie and Margaret Brown (they remained in Scotland). George died in Winnipeg on March 10 1899. I'm hoping someone will be familiar with the family. Christian was a Medical Doctor, and we know she died in the 1950's, possibly in the US. Thanks. Leslie Gerard Wellborn, Florida

Thank you for replying to my query re: Fleury. Yes, I, too, have both the Sprague book and Gail Morin's compendium of Metis families. I have found that both have mistakes and so one has to be careful. Edward and Michel Fleury in Sprague are listed as sons of Joseph Fleury while Morin gives a different set of parents. I also have the scrip books. John Bell and Nancy/Anne Dease have five children which I have accounted for. Josephte Bell is not a daughter of Nancy Dease. My husband is a direct descendant of John Bell and Nancy Dease so I have a lot of info on the line. I just wanted to fill out Josephte Bell/Fleury's family. Thank you again for taking the time to respond. Maureen Clarke __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Bid and sell for free at http://auctions.yahoo.com

Phillip was living with Isabel Grasser and the family has always thought they were married at the time but it hasn't been proven. Does this sound familar to anyone? Leeanne Victoria, BC

    3. oops mistake...Alexander Ferguson was born in or near Augusta Ontario JANE JONES WE DON'T KNOW were she was born only that it was 1879 sept 21 we do know that she lived in Dominion City and are waiting for a marriage Cert I am hoping that her parents names are on this. The census tell us that in 1899 Alexander was unmarried there GUNN 's in a cemetary in Dominion City. Could Jane be one of Catherines children 1879 or grandchild? Jane would have been born in and around the Red River Sett. Because Catherine claimed for scrip in 1875 (her husband was gone at this point?) So Jane could be the daughter of Edward Jones he would have been 55 when jane was born. daughter of John Jones 1843 he would have been 36 years old I want to get that cert now and see if her fathers name is not John Jones????? Let me know if I can give you any other information should this be a match. Thanks again...If not it is fun looking... Toni Manitoba

    3. Thank you so much for all your work...I have to read this to my father and go over some dates. But It sure does look like we could have something here as we know that Jane and Alexander had been given land in the Red River Settlement. You go back farther then I have gone. Jane Jones or Jane Conner Jones (unsure about the Conner) they called her Jennie was born sept 21 1879 looks to be in or near Augusta Ontario Died Sept 16 1976 in Langenburg Sask This is my great grandmother ( I called her the cookie lady) She would give us a cookie and close the door..(her son had 13 children, she lived beside him so when we came I don't blame her for going back in her house) smile She married Alexander Ferguson Born June 21 1868 d June 7 1947 died in Langenburg R.M. They had 6 children Garnet Ferguson is my grandfather their son. he married Alberta Oarth. Back to Jane we know that they owned or farmed land in dominion City and my parents have the section of land numbers. I will have to get more I have a good feeling that your information may just take me someplace...Lets see if that was your relatives who knows we could be related someplace...........you just never know... Thanks again for all your help it is ggggg greatly appreciated. Toni Manitoba Canada

    3. The John Gunn (farmer) and Donald Gunn (farmer) rang a bell! Page 233 of the "RM of Franklin turns a century" a family history book of the southern Manitoba area describes the George Gunn family. George had a son John Gunn and he in turn had a son named Donald. No mention of the other folks. We are likely talking the same area mentioned by Larry ----- Original Message ----- From: Larry Quinto <quinto@cyberus.ca> To: <CAN-MB-WINNIPEG-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Tuesday, September 28, 1999 10:05 PM Subject: Re: [CAN-MB-WINNIPEG-L] Fleury/Bell/Belle - Red River > Hi Toni, > This is what I have found in "Metis Scrip", JONES, Catherine; HB > (half-breed) head; myself and children; widow of Alexander McCORRISTER; born > 1795, NWT; John JONES (English) was father; (Indian) was mother; Catherine > MCCORRISTER (x); 28 July 1875; John GUNN, farmer; Donald GUNN, farmer > (witnesses); > It says; Catherine claimed for scrip on 28 July 1875, for her and her > children.
