I have just discovered the hard way ( $25) that a birth certificate in Manitoba gives you nothing . I've sent for the death certificate because in B.C. it gives parents , place of birth , their place of birth and all sorts of info. Manitoba assures me theirs are the same. I got a lot of info from one here and even found a second cousin who had signed the death certificate. Good Luck Coralynn in Quesnel, B.C. I am new to research in this area and am hoping someone can help me. What kind of records would list a persons birth place besides a birth record? Peter Michael Curran died in Jan 1919 in Beausejour and was born about 1885 in England we think. He had a daughter born Jan 1916 illegitimately in Lydiatt. He then married the mother here or in England and had another child in this area. I dont know when he came to the area but it may not have been too much earlier than 1915. His wife did remarry. I know this is a small time period but is there anyone who could suggest what kind of record may list a birth place, parents or even marriage? From what I have found out the death record would not list this information. Any help would be appreciated Pam Kirkland Oklahoma

As the Listowner, I have the option of changing the Prepend to the list. I've thought about a shorter version in the past. Well, I made a change. It will still be a little long, but it's shorter. I do not want to make the name so short that people are confused when they receive this e-mail. Also, in the Digest mode, you will still need to read down the list of e-mails. Can't change that. Even though the Prepend has changed, to Subscribe or Unsubscribe from the list, an e-mail still needs to be sent to CAN-MB-WINNIPEG-L-request@rootsweb.com Phyllis Haynen Listowner and Host for Winnipeg District Gord Adams wrote: > > I like the short version concept. Is there any way we can eliminate the CAN-MB-WINNIPEG at the beginning of the subject lines? This seems to take up almost all of the line and forces one to look at every listing in the Digest. Just a thought. Susan

Would there be a kind soul willing to do a look up for me? My gr gr grandfather, Jesse KETCHUM is listed on his youngest daughter's birth certificate, as being born in Winnipeg, Canada. His birth date is June 14, 1857. All I would want is confirmation on this information. Prior to his birth, his parents, Nathaniel and Lucretia, were living in Leeds Co. Ontario, during the 1851 census. It would be of interest to me if someone would be able to indicate to me if Nathaniel was a land owner (in Winnipeg). If Jesse were in deed born in Winnipeg, this might be the reason we can't find a port of entry for the family in the eastern side of Michigan, where Jesse, Nathaniel and the rest of the family settled. If a look up isn't possible, an address, snail mail, for the place I need to contact, would be appreciated.
