The James you mention is my Grandfather and the Mrs R.P. Affleck though I never new her I new her family. In fact ended up buying a farm from them in 1946. They lived on the adjoining farm to Grampa's in Wood Bay. Wood Bay was so small people often gave Pilot Mound as were they were from so could find were they lived. Its still a pretty vague search looking back than. I'm at a bit of a handy cap searching my fathers family as Daddy died before I was a year old so all I knew of therm is what he had told Mother and she passed on to us. It seams to me that there must of been schools in Winnipeg at that time and some records should be left intact. I know an uncle of mine was able to prove his age for Old Age Pention's and it was a country school he attended in the 1890's. Thanks for your interest and if You find anything on those Wpg Schools I'd appreciate hearing about that. Bothn Grampa and Gramma were in wpg in 1878 Grampa filed om his holmstead in Nov 1878 at Wood Bay. Thet were married in Wpg Feb 2 1880 and my father was born Dec 6 1880. They were getting on in years so lost no time in getting started. Hugh

Dear Mary: I don't have an address for the Knox Church in Wpg but I could walk right to it. Just North of Portage avenue about Kennedy Street. I'd sugest you do a look up on the Canada411 sight for a phone number and address. I've found that sight works wonders in Canada. Its a few years since I was there they were very helpful to me but noting in the archives was sorted out except the baptisms. Were I found my fathers in 1881. A person could spend days looking there. Try that 411 sight and if you don't have any success drop me a line and I'll try. Hugh
Sorry no word on Sarah Mcvicar yet but I am still looking. My parents go to the cemetary 's out that way to so I will keep an eye on what they find. I was reading over the Franklin book but have not yet found another Mcvicar but the ones I told you about. But cross your fingers, I am not done looking yet.

Dear Listers, I would like to find out the Postal Code for Brookside Cemetery. The U.S. Post Office has a web site where one can do lookups of addresses and Postal Codes. Does the Canadian Post Office have a similar web site or service? Else, how does one find a Postal Code? Thanks. Marg, I, too, used to live in Wpg. and specifically in the burb of Charleswood. Now, Charleswood is just a designated area of the City of Wpg. Yes, there is an Odd Fellows home in that area (at least there used to be when I last lived there - 1982). You might also try contacting the Odd Fellows directly in your search. Best regards, Darcy McLean (radna@aol.com) San Diego, CA

Dear List: Oh yes, one more thing - the Death Cert for Miles Edmund Bacon, b. November 6, 1855, d. July 15, 1841, says that he was buried in Brookside Cemetery. Is that in Winnipeg and does anyone have a transcript for that Cemetery and wouldn't mind looking to see if he is indeed there, as well as any other people with the last name of Bacon? Thank you very much! Marg
Dear List: On Friday, I received a copy of a Death Certificate for the husband of an ancestor of mine, Miles Edmund Bacon, and am having trouble reading the "Place of Death". I says "If Rural Municipality -- and it looks like -- Charliswood, or Charleswood, or Clarkeswood, Manitoba." Apparently he died at the Odd Fellows home there. Can anyone tell me what this Municipality might have been and where it is located in Manitoba? I have looked in my Atlas and also on an on-line map of Manitoba and cannot find it. Thank you very much! Marg in Sunny Alberta
