    3. When I ordered a Death Certificate for Miles Edmund Bacon, I wrote on the request that I was requesting it for Genealogical Purposes. After they received my order, a very nice lady from Vital Statistics phoned me to let me know that I wouldn't be able to get it unless I was a descendant. I told her that Miles was married to my late Great-Aunt and that they only had one son, Charles Wesley Bacon in 1881 who, according to a letter from my Grandma, had never married and therefore, unless Charles had managed to survive 119 years, he was also dead and their family line would have ended with him. She was super nice and at that point said there would be no problem with them sending it to me and I received it last week. It took about 8 weeks by the way. They are accessable to the general public, infact the index is on-line. I wish to purchase a photocopy of the Marriage Registration Form for my grandparents married in Winnipeg in 1912/1913 in Manitoba but in order to get it, the letter I received with the form states "an immediate next of kin still living" must authorize this. Some states/countries ask you to sign that immediate family ie. children or parents are deceased and that you are a relative of some degree.........

    2. jps2000
    3. Hello This is second of two messages. I am starting research on my grandfather's family. They lived in Winnipeg for a time, roughly 1911 to 1930. I don't have much, but hopefully someone will recognize the name. Here's what I know : Grandfather's name : Jean Damhaut. Born in Belgium in 1901, family moved to St. Boniface in 1911-1912. He died in Toronto in 1991. He married Maude Webster. They lived in Winnipeg until 1942 or 44 when they moved to Toronto. His father's name : Julien Damhaut His mother's name : Victoire Pirotton Siblings that lived in Winnipeg for a time: Marie (married a Frank Bourne around 1924), and Hortense (married a Fred Harris around 1926) He once told me that his uncle Nicholas Pirotton was a well known person in Winnipeg in the early part of the century. I remembering him once telling me that he was a stonemason and designed the citadel in Winnipeg. This is the start of my research, so any information anyone has would be appreciated. Thank you, John Potter Jps2000@netcom.ca

    1. [MBWINNIPEG-L] Researching ECCLES
    2. Art Eccles
    3. Hello, I am new to this list so I thought I would say hello and post a question. I am researching ECCLES in England and Canada (from circa 1888 to present day). I was brought up in BC although I was born in England. My Father came from Calgary and met & married my Mother in England during WWII. My Grandfather William Pawson ECCLES and G Grandfather William ECCLES (and wife Sarah nee MATTHEWS) went to Canada in 1888. My Grandfather died in Calgary in 1931. His obituary states that his Father was still alive and living in Manitoba. My questions are: Where can I look for my G Grandfather's obituary (I don't have any idea when he died)? Where can I look to find out exactly where they landed in Canada? Would there exist some naturalization papers or citizenship papers in a government archive somewhere and how can I access these records? Unfortunately, both my Father and Mother are deceased and cannot help! Also, I have no contact with any of my Father's relations as my parents split up almost 40 years ago. Regards Art Eccles in Kent, south-east England. Researching: ECCLES: Yorkshire all periods. ECCLES: Canada c1881 to present. PAWSON: Yorkshire all periods to c1900. WINDLE: Yorkshire all periods to c1900. MATTHEWS: Yorkshire all periods to c1900. WILLIAMS: Canada pre-1930.
