BTW, several of these are already abbreviated on the Mid-West Manitoba web page. You might check there if you ancestor moved to that area. Hi Terre, Thanks for the kind words. There are 2 Walkers listed in this book and one of them is a William! Here's hoping it's the right one. William Walker of Carberry was b. Mar 26, 1850 Ayr, Ontario, son of Robert Walker & Hester Rogers. In 1872 he married Eliz. Chittendon of Dumfrieds, Ontairo and they had 5 children: William Herbert (married with 3 children), Maud Winnifred (wife of H.E. Waller of Carberry); Robert Edwards; Mary Josephine (wife of H.L. Cocksedge of Eagle Butte); and Mona. The other is Hon. David Marr Walker of Woodhouse, Nofolk Co, b. 03 Oct 1835, son of Solomon Walker and Sarah Osborne. He m. 1856 to Anna Bella Anderson, and they have son Geofrey H. Walker. (seems to me I just typed this for someone on this list). If either of these is a fit, please get back to me and I will give you the full bio. Hello John in San Diego, I too have a book from the local library called "Pioneers and Prominent People of Manitoba" published by Canadian Publicity Co. in 1925 and it has a listing for a Henry McGill and Robert McKay. (1837); one of the earliest pioneers in the district; family again moved to Paisley in Bruce county. Mr. H. McGill came West in 1877; worked on Canadian Pacific Railway construction; homesteaded in 1880 in Florenta township; still lives on the old homestead. Served three terms on the council of rural municipality of Lansdown, Mr. McGill's great uncle founded McGill University in 1819. The family has given to Canada pioneers in three provinces. Mr. McGill today owns a large tract of farm land and is one of the successful farmers of his district. Has been an Orangeman for 43 years. Address, Plumas, Man." "McKay; Robert, Financial Broker, Allan, Killam & McKay. Born in Sutherlandshire, Scotland, November 14, 1879. Son of George and Marion McKay. Married Margaret E. McCallum, December 26,1906.
