First off, I can tell you that copyright is only good for 50 years (in Canada at least) after publication, so I would expect that answers the question right there. Unless someone tells me otherwise. thanks Karen. -----Original Message----- From: Stine <sstine@escape.ca> To: CAN-MB-WINNIPEG-L@rootsweb.com <CAN-MB-WINNIPEG-L@rootsweb.com> Date: Saturday, March 04, 2000 2:28 PM Subject: Re: [MBWINNIPEG-L] the H list >Hello Bette, >This book is under copyright, Canada, 1925, by the Canadian Publicity Co. >I have no idea about copyright laws or if they still hold the copyright or >if the company is still in business. Hello Bette, This book is under copyright, Canada, 1925, by the Canadian Publicity Co. I have no idea about copyright laws or if they still hold the copyright or if the company is still in business. Anybody can check this book out of the library though and has access to this same information and what they do with it is none of my business. I believe relatives "own" their own family's information myself and as long as no one is making money on it and you can't buy the book new in the store it should be fine. Maybe someone knows more about this than me and can let us all know. Reita, Don't mind the query, but I don't have any more information than what I gave you. There was only the one bio on Edwin James listed in this book. Hi Bette: Thank you so much for the information. I will pass this on to my mother-in-law although I don't think we have a match. You must be extremely busy with all of this. Bless you for putting the time and effort into helping others.
