There might be something more in their papers. I can see what I can find for you. But havn't come across anything yet.

There a lot of private cemeteries in Winnipeg. The only place I know of other than the archives of the parishes themselves. Every Catholic, Anglican, Methodist, and Jewish Cemetery have there own burial grounds as well as privately owned such as Green Acres, Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens. There are a number of different cemeteries. Check with the Manitoba Genealogical Society. They have cemetery record for many cemeteries in Manitoba. _________________________________________________________________ Send and receive Hotmail on your mobile device: http://mobile.msn.com

I'm looking about information specifically about the West Lynne Immigration Sheds near Emerson. I am already very much aware of the background history of the Mennonites and their history in Manitoba. What I can't find is firsthand accounts of time spent at the immigration sheds, pictures, or descriptions of the length of time spent there. But thanks for the link to the meta-link Menno page. It had a couple of sites I hadn't explored yet. Donna
Winnipeg has a told of 23 cemeteries. 3 are run by the city. 6 are run by the catholic church, 2 are Jewish and the rest are private. Unfortunately none of the others are on line. Surnames: Campbell, Scott, Fisher Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/mNC.2ACE/1665.1 Message Board Post: I would like to know where your Campbell - Fisher names came from. I am searching for the family of George Campbell who was born 1817 in Ayrshire, Scotland and married Agnes Fisher. He died in 1886 and is is buried in the Balmoral, Manitoba Cemetery. I am looking for a possible son - Ivie Campbell who was buried in the Gowan, Saskatchewan Veterans Cemetery - died in 1914. Maybe there is a possible connection of the Campbell family here as the second name of a child is sometimes the maiden name of the mother. Is this a possibility?
I am fairly certain that family members died and were buried in Winnipeg yet I cant find them in any of the 3 City cemeteries. Deaths [SAUNBY] occurred years 1937, 1956 +...would some kind soul please let me know of the listing of Private memorial burial grounds in Winnipeg? thanks Liz of BC

Can anybody recommend a book either about the immigrant aspect of Emerson/West Lynne's history, or about the Mennonites in the mid-1870's which mentions Emerson/West Lynne? I have a family story in my MILLER line that my husband's great-grandfather was "born in the immigration office in Emmerson". I'm pretty sure he was born in 1876 in Manitoba to Mennonite parents, so I'm hoping to peg it down to this likely location. Many thanks in advance, Donna Hrynkiw
