    2. Carol Lylyk
    3. Hi Wendy, Unfortunately there is no place to look up a death in Manitoba. The Vital Statistics Department hold the records and they charge $25.00+ for a death certificate and then you might not even be allowed to get one as you aren't a direct descendent. They are getting quite sticky about issuing certificates now in fear of someone using them for false identification. If you want I can send you the address so you can try ordering a certificate. Let me know. 2. Judy Buller
    3. Hi, I have been looking throught the microfilms for the Winnipeg Free Press and Tribune in search of Alice Wood's (great grandmother) death notice. Brookside has her dying Apr. 20, 1922 and buried on Apr. 24, 1922. I cannot seem to locate anything regarding her death. In the 1920's did the funeral homes publish the notice or was it the family's responsibility? Was the notice usually published in both papers? She was from England and just visiting my grandparents. Would that have made a difference as well? Should I be searching further along than the burial date? Were the notices sometimes published long after the fact? My next question is regarding a long time resident of Stony Mountain. Andrew Hunter homesteaded there from the 1880's. In the 1901 census he is there with his family and is shown to still be there in his mother's obit of 1909. I was given a death date from an old family bible, Oct. 1, 1919, but no place of death. I have not been able to locate a newspaper for Stony Mountain area and was wondering where his death notice may have been published? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. Judy Buller
