I'm still looking for descendants of Patrick GALLAGHER who was a prominent butcher and wholessale meat supplier in Winnipeg from 1880s until his death in 1901. Is anyone familiar with this family? GALLAGHER Street in Winnipeg was named for him. Patrick's son, Cornelius, born 1854 and died 1907 was the mayor of Alberta in the late 1890s and ownded a significant amount of land in Alberta called the GALLAGHER Flats. Anyone familiar with this? Appreciate any and all info. Thanks. Joanne

I may have narrowed the search for my grandfather, Alexander Reid. There is a listing at Ellis Island for a mason, the right age, arriving there in 1899. If this is the right Alexander Reid, then somehow he managed to meet and marry Alice Neal, move to Winnipeg before 1905 when my father was born, and do his stonemason thing there. Thanks for taking the time to read this, grateful for any info. jd
