Hi folks I'm new to this list and looking for any information regarding a Robert CANTLAY/CANTLEY born in Ellon, Aberdeen, Scotland on 22 June 1887. His parents were David CANTLAY and Ann FLORENCE of Methlick, Aberdeen. I have just found his attestation papers on the archivia.net website dated 17th December 1915. His address is given as 618 Main street, Winnipeg. i'm not sure when he emigrated but I have found him in Scotland in the 1901 census. I think he may of emigrated with his brother David born 1882. I am not familiar with Canadian procedures so could someone tell me how I can find a death certificate? I think he died around 1938. I'm also after any information on immigration records etc. If there is anyone else researching Scottish CANTLAY/CANTLEY immigrants I would love to hear from you. She was married to Thomas Lewis Hatcher who served in WW1 as a Trooper with the 34th Fort Garry Horse and died of wounds after the famed attack on Rifle Wood on 1 April 1918. There was a daughter Cecilia, dob unknown. Annie may have remarried a Mr Warburton - this might have been the cause of the move to Rita Street. Does this ring bells with anyone?
