    1. [MBWINNIPEG-L] Mrs. Flora Edmond
    2. Hi, listers! If anyone has any information about this lady, I would greatly appreciate it. In 1941, she signed as the informant on the death record of Euphemia Rebecca McGregor and identified herself as a daughter. Flora would be my Dad's first cousin; we didn't know that Uncle Dunc and Aunt Phem had this daughter. I think Flora would have to have been born by 1915, so she may well have passed on, but I don't find her in any of the three cemeteries listed on line by the city of Winnipeg. In 1941 Flora listed her address as 676 Sherbrooke Street. I did send a letter of inquiry to the four Edmond families listed in Canada 411 for Winnipeg; no replies. What I want to know is: Was Flora a blood relative, or was it a sort of informal adoption? Did Flora have any descendants? What became of her? We have a large McGregor family tree, but this branch continues to have more questions than answers. I did meet Aunt Phem and Uncle Dunc once, or maybe twice, before he died in 1938. I was 9 in 1938; there is a memory, but it's foggy. Aunt Phem's last residence was at 430 River Avenue. Would really appreciate any smattering of information. Sincerely, Bettymae in California.

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/mNC.2ACE/1843.1 Message Board Post: I found the following in the Manitoba Daily Free Press, Sat., April 12, 1879, p.1: "The Rev. Mr. McDonald will preach a discourse, in the Baptist Church tomorrow evening, on the sudden death of the late Miss Chandler." Unfortunately there was a problem preventing other pages of that time period from displaying, so I haven't found the actual notice of her death. I will try again later. I did see a number of items 1875-1879 about the Temperance Society with a John or James Chandler listed as speaker. The newspaper is available on microfilm at many Canadian university libraries or from the National Library on inter-library loan. Ask about this at your local public library.

Need a baptismal record for Kate (or possibly Mary ) Chandler, who was baptised on a winter Sunday during that time period. She fell through the ice on a river she was crossing on her way home from the baptism, and was drowned. Her body was recovered downstream after the ice melted in April. She was about 12-14 at the time.
