Further on in the poem it mentions Queen Victoria in her chair with lots of snow upon her hair. I think it was in an old school reader. Don't know author's name. Can anyone please send it to me. Thanks.

Hello Hugh in Chicago, The current newspaper in Pilot Mound is The Sentinal Courier which can be found at The Manitoba Legislative Library. In 1881 it was The Pilot Mound Signal. The MLL has a web page on the internet and you can also find them on the Manitoba GenWeb board. You could email them. Greetings all: Here's hoping that someone can locate information about the death (and life, for that matter) of John STAIT, died Sept 4, 1896. He died at Pilot Mound, MB in what is believe by the family to be a farming accident. Is there a genealogical society for that section of MB? Could anyone direct me to a local paper that might record obits? Thanks, and have a great holiday season. Hugh Stott Chicago, IL

Wendy - Does the Army record show his regiment, date & place of enlistment, residence address, next-of-kin, date & place of discharge? If the addresses are in Winnipeg, he could, perhaps, be listed in the City Directories of the period if the dates were known. If he was alive and living and/or working in Winnipeg in 1950's, it shouldn't be too hard to locate him (might even have spouse's name and his occupation) According to my arithmetic, his daughter was born about 1916. Was she born in Ireland or Canada. If in Canada, where? I think you might do best to check with the Manitoba Genealogical Society. They have an ongoing project indexing Manitoba graves. If your uncle's grave has been indexed, they should be able to tell you where it is and possibly what is on the stone. I checked the Winnipeg municipal cemeteries indexes and he doesn't appear in those (although the Brookside one may not be complete yet). HI LINDA I am interested in any information you may have about your Renwick ancestry. I am tring to determine what became of the Renwicks after they arrived in Canada in 1848.
