    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Holman, Doldin Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/mNC.2ACE/1904 Message Board Post: I am looking for information on the family of origin of Stephen Holman born June 21, 1852 in Tudely Kent. His mother's name was Martha Doldin. His father (Josiah or John, I believe) died when Stephan was young from an accident with a wagon. Three of his (poss 8) siblings were Jabez, Arnold, & Dorcas (Arnold and Dorcas may be middle names) who married Sam Hayward and lived on Lavendar Hill in Tonbridge. The Holman family attended the Baptist Church in Tonbridge. He worked at the Tonbridge Castle when he was young and then in London for Lord Clissold. He married Alice Eleanor Day in London in 1876 from Aldersgate Street within the sound of Bow Bells in London. They had four children: Percival William, Lillian, Ernest John, and Ethel Frances (my grandmother b. 1891). They returned to the Tonbridge area and lived in a 500 year old house in Haysden. The family lived nine more years in East Ham London and then immigrated to Canada (except Lillian who was married by this time) in A! ugust 1905. Originally the Holman's were to stay with relatives in the Winnipeg area, but homesteaded in Saskatchewan. If you have any information, our family would love to hear from you. I have looked up info in several sites but there seems to be some errors posted on who he married. Our family has several pictures of Stephen's siblings which we would like to have identifed. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/mNC.2ACE/1870.2.1 Message Board Post: Thanks for the info on the orphanages. I am thinking that I should be looking for homes for unwed mothers as that is where my Great Aunt Lily would have gone as she was pregnant and unwed. I am led to believe that she continued to live and work at this home until her death. I have no birth dates of her son Edward, nor any death dates for her nor her son (if he is indeed deceased). Thanks again and happy 2003! Judy

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/mNC.2ACE/1903 Message Board Post: We requested a birth record for my great uncle from Winnipeg. We were told we could not have a copy without permission from his living next of kin. Actually all I really want is his mother's maiden name from it. Is there anyway to get the info without the actual certificate? Can a local researcher look at it? This family was not good about recording births death and marriages so it is possible a record doesn't even exist. It is from the late 1890s. Any suggestions?

    2. Lynton Stewart
    3. You may want to look at the 1901 Census of Manitoba for the information. It lists the date of birth, so you will know you have the right person. You also get any other siblings that way (G). ===== Lynton (Bill) Stewart A former Canadian Citizen, who's Citizenship was taken away without any notice due to the fact that I was born prior to 1947. Searching for Burrows, Charlson, Cook, McGuire, Ohler, Peers, Provorse, Wevik, Wright and several others in the USA. Searching for Moore, McLennan, Peers, Stewart, Thompson in NS, Canada.
