    3. Norman, Thank you for the heads up! I looked at both Army & Land Grants. What a MINE of information! The dates don't quite jibe, but I have plenty of Charles Arnolds to check into. Thanks again. 3. Hi Rita, I'm sorry but I never received your first message. I am so excited to hear from you. I also grew up in Transcona. I had a Larry Jackson in my class one year. Is he your brother? I don't even remember what I put into my query...it was so long ago. We were in Transcona at the beginning of June. We buried our mother in Sioux Lookout with Dad. Then spent two days in Winnipeg visiting with my mother's two sisters. Mom was a Blais, and her parents were early settlers in Transcona. My grandmother was Lillian Evangeline Jackson, and she married John Archibald McMillan. Her parents were James Edward Jackson Born October 6, 1867 England(son of William Jackson and Elizabeth Unknown) and Lillian Farrar (possible born in Belfast, parents unknown). Lillian Farrar Jackson died March 4, 1904, of pneumonia, in Winnipeg. He had six daughters with Lillian. You must descend from his second wife, whom I know nothing about. One of my Aunts told me he moved to Alberta after marrying his second wife. I have a million questions! I will try to contain myself. I live in Vancouver, BC. Where do you live? I would be happy to send you any information that you want. My husband and I are off to Edmonton and Calgary for the week of July 21 to the 25. We are going to look for my Father-in-law's homestead that he had from 1928 to 1940. He also had two brothers who homesteaded there from 1926 to the 1950's. They went back to Sweden. I will look forward to hearing from you. We must be cousins...Pat rmorton@mts.net wrote: > > This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. > > Surnames: Jackson > Classification: Query > > Message Board URL: > > http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/mNC.2ACE/1853.2 > > Message Board Post: > > This I believe is my grandfather. 1. [MBWINNIPEG-L] Ro(d)gers, Lancelot, George,Robert, and Joseph
    2. Thomas Rodgers
    3. I am searching for any information on the Ro(d)gers family, who emigrated to the Winnipeg area around 1885. Lancelot(b. 1852), George(b. 1854), and Robert, my greatgrandfather(b. 1863), were some of the children of Joseph and Eleanor(Carleton). They probably emigrated to the Winnipeg area before 1885. I find them in the land records of Lambton county, Ontario upto 1883. When George marries Annie Wilson in 1885, he lists his place of residence as Winnipeg. Joseph dies in 1899 in Winnipeg(I have sent for a copy of the death certificate). Lancelot is in the census of 1901 for Winnipeg. George owned a general store in Winnipeg for several years before he eventually moved to British Columbia. Any help would be appreciated. Tom Rodgers
