According to National Registration Act of 1940, Michael entered Canada in 1903, and was born in Labor (Tabor), Czechoslovakia, although all other records give Poland as his place of birth. Ludwiga(or Louise)Slewinski(Slivinski)was born in Poland on Oct. 15, 1893. She married Michael Syzek in Holy Ghost Polish Catholic Church in Winnipeg's North End on July 12, 1911. One of her brother's sons, listed as Edward Stanley Slowinski,played hockey for six seasons with the New York Rangers of the NHL. He was born in Winnipeg on Nov. 18, 1922. Another of her nephews (sister's sons)Peter Barbolak, played tackle for Purdue and the Pittsburgh Steelers(1949).
