Hello Listers I'm trying to find someone with a connection to the Josef Niznik family. There are many variations in spelling of the surname; some are Nisnick, Nyznyk, Niznick, Nisneck, Nezneck, Nesnik. There were families by these names in Manitoba between 1912 and 1930 (source: Manitoba Vital Statistics web site). Josef was my great-grandfather; his wife was Margaretha BESLER. Their known children were Rosalia (b 1883), Ludovica (b 1884) and Eleonora (b 1887), all believed to have been born in Czernovitz, Bukovina, Austria-Hungary. Josef and his family emigrated to Canada and settled in Saskatchewan about 1904. Josef died at Regina in 1910. Margaretha died at Southey in 1908. Eleonora Niznik was my grandmother. She married Rudolph VOLLHOFFER at Balgonie, SK, in 1905 and died at Medicine Hat, AB, in 1931. May there be someone on the list with a connection to this family. Cheers! Eleanore Dempster Mission, BC
