    3. Greetings from Saskatoon, I have been reading the various postings regarding the provincial Vital Statistics Departments. I have ordered and received documents from Ontario, Manitoba, Saskatchewan and British Columbia. While I don't appreciate the costs, if in my research I think it is worth while, then I will order copies. This also includes ordering from provincial archives. These can vary from easy to accept, to very expensive. Each person must make their own decision on whether to pay, or leave the information behind. But I offer one suggestion, before denouncing the provincial agency, do some background investigation, as to why the costs are expensive. Wages are the main reason. When a staff member pulls the certificate from the files, after doing a search, then makes a copy, how much time has been taken up? Multiply those numbers by the many requests that come in, and likely the totals would amaze people. Manitoba Vital Statistics offer $12.00, if you do the look up and provide the document number, but if they do the search the cost increases to $25.00! While some provinces offer online resources, this is good and helps genealogical research, but why demean those other locations that don't have these services? Ross Doherty, Saskatoon, Saskatchewan
