I can only tell you what I know about Saskatchewan. Vital stats is not on line, and you have to pay $25 for each document you want. If your out by a year they keep your money anyway, even if you do not get a document. Yes Delores, I sent an email to the Saskatchewan List a while back , asking if there were any ideas on how to get Saskatchewan to loosen up a bit. I'd love to get my grandparents marriage reg from 1910...it would cost me 25 dollars, but I pretty much know what all the information is. If it were 10 or 12, I would probably just get it to have it anyway. I agree with Alan that it would be nice if the provinces could get on the same page...but that doesn't happen with most things I guess, so we shouldn't hold our breath. It would be great if the province of Sask would realize that if they charged a reasonable amount, and provided an index, there would be many more orders, and they would probably make MORE income. What they also don't realize is that many people like myself, will travel to the province to visit old homesteads and cemeteries, if we can get our hands on the information, to know where to find these places. So if there are any bureaucrats listening out there....there is a tourism market that hasn't been realized!!!! Hello Delores I too have had to deal with Saskatchewan for Vital Stats, and I lost my $25 for just that reason. I paid it again, because I wanted my great great grandmother's death certificate (She actually died in the NWT before Moosomin became part of Sask). What really made me mad was they do not let you see the cause of death, they blacked it out! I'm glad that she was the only family member I have to worry about in Saskatchewan, and won't have to worry about dealing with them anymore (at least so far).
