    3. There is no place simply named Nelson. There are, however, Port Nelson and Nelson House. Port Nelson is at the mounth of the Nelson River, on the shore od Hudson's Bay. Nelson House is about 300 km upriver, about 50 km straight wset from Thompson, Manitoba. Both are in the far north. Port Nelson and Nelson House were both old Hudson Bay Company trading posts. As a point of interest, my ex-hubby was the first white child ever born at Nelson House, and that occurred in 1953. His father was a minister there.
